Explaination
Many of you are no doubt wondering why [valar] emuland hasn't been updated this past week. Here's the scoop. The main PC that maintained this site had to be reinstalled and FrontPage 2000 was lost! I am rectifying this at this very moment, and the site will be fully updated very shortly. I apologize for the delay. In the meantime, please visit
Zophar's Domain for all your news needs. This is a great site, updated manys times a day. Thank you, and again we apologize.

Snes9x
v1.20 is AWESOME!
I have been messing around with the new Snes9x all
afternoon and I have to say...it is awesome! Typically, Zsnes has
been my snes emulator of choice for the last year or so, ( I have seen
Zsnes ripen with age ever since it's initial release in September of
1997 ), but no more! The new Snes9x for Windows 9x looks great,
sounds great, and has a better palette in my opinion ( Notice Final
Fantasy 3 ). Great job, Snes9x team!
Snes9x v1.20 Windows
released: As mentioned at the SNES developer's
journal yesterday, a new version of SNES 9x for Windows, with 3DFX support
is now available. This archive lacks the readme.txt file, because of all the
changes that needed to be made to it before a release could occur. Gary decided
to release the binaries now, and update them with the readme file in a couple
days when its ready. The biggest update with this is probably 3DFX support.

Major bugs in ZSNES V0.941
I have been receiving reports
of some major bugs in the new ZSNES versions 0.940+ effecting sound
cards and gameplay. I myself have a Sound Blaster Live! and I
could not get it to work with the new version. In fact, reports of
at least 40% of sound cards that worked with previous versions do not
work at all with the new ZSNES, without tweaking the system BIOS! (If
your computer even has a fix). Read more about it at the ZSNES
FAQ SITE. Graphics glitches in the new version include a
*really* screwed up palette in Final Fantasy 3.
For your convenience, I have re-posted
ZSNES version 0.915c. It will
remain up until the ZSNES Team fixes these issues.

WE'RE BACK!!
I apologize for the site being
down for a few days...I moved and my server had to go to. I moved
everything to a new server this afternoon, and guess what?? We're
now on a full T1!! This means super-fast downloads with no more
DSL 128mbps upload bullshit! As always, please don't download more
than 2 files at a time. This way the bandwidth will stay nice and
wide for everyone to enjoy. Take care!! :)
ZSNES V0.940 released: This
great DOS based SNES emulator has been updated with the following changes:
- Fixed a major SuperFX bug! Starfox and other SuperFX games now show
polygons! Note that the SuperFX still has bugs.

- Optimized SuperFX plot instruction.
- Implemented a hack to get Winter Gold working. Thanks to Gary Henderson for
this fix!

- Seems like a sprite cache bug that was fixed in v0.800 re-appeared in
v0.900. Fixed now.

- Forced the old gfx engine on when running Stunt Race FX since the new gfx
engine was having lots of problems in 256 color mode
- Fixed a new gfx 8bit engine mosaic crashing bug with certain games
- Fixed a sprite cache bug in the new gfx engine
- Fixed a DSP envelope bug which was causing some games to not work
- WRAM data is now cleared by 0xFF
- Fixed 320x480x16bit mode when switching from a 256 color mode
Both
the C and ASM core versions are available for download from our SNES emulation
page linked above. Additionally, the official ZSNES site has seen a nice redesign as well. Thanks
to |EFX| for the news.

Just a few gifs to liven
things up...
I have added some gaming gifs to all pages
because I felt that this page was just too damn bland! They are
small (most under 3k), bandwidth-friendly pics that just make it look a
little nicer. Yes, they are from FF5 and Breath of Fire. :)
ZSNES v0.915
